Great Stanley No. 62 Twin Iron Reversible Spokeshave โ Pat. 1876, Rare Early Model
A scarce and innovative example of the Stanley No. 62 reversible spokeshave, patented April 18, 1876 by Justus Traut and Henry Richards. This model features twin facing cuttersโone for push cuts and one for pull cutsโmounted in a solid cast iron body measuring approximately 10″ long.
Manufactured between 1877 and 1923, the No. 62 was designed to handle changing grain direction on flat or convex surfaces without the need to reposition the toolโsimply flip it and keep working. The handles are often found with the embossed patent date.
A rare and clever design that reflects Stanleyโs most inventive eraโperfect for collectors of early patented tools or users who appreciate 19th-century engineering.
