Sargent No. 710 “Autoset” Patent Smoothing Plane – Scarce Stanley 605 1/4 Equivalent – 95% Original Finish.
A rare and super nice example of the Sargent & Company No. 710 “Autoset” patent smoothing plane, manufactured in New Haven, Connecticut. This model is the direct equivalent of the elusive Stanley No. 605 1/4 and is highly sought after by collectors for its unique size and patented adjustment mechanism.
This plane retains approximately 95% of its original black japan finish, with crisp casting and clean hardware throughout. The “Autoset” design, patented on January 12, 1915 by Albert A. Page, offers a distinctive blade adjustment system that sets it apart from traditional Bailey-style planes.
