Description
A stunning 18thโcentury handโforged wheelwrightโs axe, richly decorated with stamped motifs and absolutely loaded with the kind of small, intentional details that make early smithโmade tools so special. Every surface shows the touch of the makerโsubtle chamfers, decorative punches, and the bold, confident forging that only comes from a practiced 18thโcentury hand.
The blade has a strong, elegant profile with a 5 3/4″ cutting edge, wide enough for serious shaping yet refined in its lines. The stamped decorations are crisp and deeply struck, adding both visual interest and historical character. The handle was replaced at some point in its life, as is typical for a working wheelwrightโs tool.
A truly exceptional early axeโdecorated, distinctive, and full of 18thโcentury craftsmanship. probably European Origin.
