An extra‑fine, unused Japanese Double Inlay Marking Knife, designed specifically for making precise, parallel inlay cuts. This tool is exceptionally well‑made, beautifully ground, and ideal for high‑accuracy decorative work.

This double‑blade design is fully adjustable for widths from 2mm to 12mm (3/32″ to 1/2″), allowing you to cut perfectly sized grooves for brass, wood, or contrasting inlay strips.

The blades are ground flat on the outside and bevelled on the inside, ensuring that the exterior faces can be set perfectly parallel across the full adjustment range. This produces square, clean groove edges—a critical detail for professional inlay work.

A central bolt and thumbscrew allow you to force the blades into a true parallel configuration for narrower cuts. Without this bolt, the groove edges would taper, so this feature is essential for accuracy.

Made from laminated steel, the blades take and hold an exceptionally keen edge. By removing the spreader bolt and clamping bolt, the blades can be rotated for easy sharpening.

While designed for inlay, this knife is equally useful for laying out mortises and tenons up to 1/2″ wide. Overall length: 5 3/4″.
