Extra Fine Shapleigh Hardware โDiamond Edgeโ Smooth Plane โ Patented Nov. 22, 1904, 9″ with 2″ Marked Iron
Offered here is a superb example of the Shapleigh Hardware Co. โDiamond Edgeโ smooth plane, manufactured under the November 22, 1904 patent granted to John Muehl. Produced by the Buckeye Saw Co. and marketed through Shapleighโs St. Louis headquarters, this plane represents the high-quality standards of early 20th-century American hardware store tools.
This model measures 9 inches in length and features a 2-inch marked โDiamond Edgeโ iron, clearly stamped with the iconic diamond-and-arrow logo.
Planes from the Diamond Edge line are increasingly hard to find in such fine condition, especially with clear markings and original components intact. This one is ready for use or display, and a standout for collectors of early American bench planes.
