A scarce and historically important jointer from the Bailey Tool Co. of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, this Defiance No. 7 size patented plane measures a full 21″ in length and reflects the inventive spirit of the late 19th century. These planes were manufactured by Selden Bailey, not to be confused with Leonard Bailey of Stanley fame. Selden’s designs, produced between 1872 and 1879, are prized for their distinctive features and limited production run.
