Hard to Find Stanley No. 56 Cooper’s Spokeshave – Proper Vee Logo Cutter

A scarce and desirable example of the Stanley No. 56 Cooper’s spokeshave, designed for heavy stock removal on curved surfaces such as barrel staves and wheel hubs. This model features a 2 5/8″ wide cutter, properly marked with the Stanley “V” logo, and a robust cast iron body measuring approximately 18 1/2″ long.

The No. 56 is one of Stanley’s heaviest-duty spokeshaves, built for demanding work in cooperage and timber framing. The cutter is sharp and well-seated, and the body retains much of its original japanning. These were produced in relatively small numbers and are increasingly hard to find—especially with the correct early-marked iron.

A great piece for the serious user or collector of Stanley’s specialized edge tools.
