A clean and well-preserved example of the Sargent No. 722 jointer plane, this model is equivalent in size and function to the Stanley No. 7, but features Sargent’s distinctive tiltable front knob—a patented design that allows ergonomic adjustment and improved control during long passes.

Measuring 22″ long, the plane is fitted with the correct 2 3/8″ Sargent iron. The rosewood tote and front knob are excellent, with the knob showing a thumbnail-sized glue repair low on the base, as is common with this design.

This model also incorporates Sargent’s Auto-Set mechanism, patented in 1915, which allows for easy blade removal and reinstallation without disturbing the lateral or depth settings—a thoughtful innovation that set Sargent apart from its competitors.
