Superb, Appears Unused — Barr Tools Hand‑Forged Chairmaker’s Gouge

A superb appears‑unused Barr Tools chairmaker’s gouge, hand‑forged in Idaho by one of the most respected modern smiths working today. Barr’s edge tools are legendary for their toughness, balance, and the clean, confident forging that sets them apart from factory‑made gouges.

This example shows no signs of use—the bevel is bright, the steel flawless, and the handle retains its original finish with no shop wear. The sweep is perfect for chairmaking work: controlled, powerful, and capable of taking beautifully clean cuts in green or seasoned stock.

Barr’s hand‑forged gouges are increasingly hard to find in unused condition, and this one is a standout—crisp, clean, and ready for serious chair work or a top‑tier tool collection.
