A superb pair of Cape Forge luthier chisels, hand‑forged and long discontinued. Cape Forge was renowned for producing exceptionally high‑quality, small‑batch edge tools for instrument makers, and their chisels have become highly sought after since the forge ceased production. This pair came directly from a prominent luthier’s shop, where they were well cared for and kept razor sharp.
The larger chisel measures 15 1/2″ long with a 1 1/16″ wide cutting edge. It has a tiny corner nick,The smaller chisel measures 11″ long with a 1/2″ wide cutting edge. Both are razor sharp and ready for fine work.
Cape Forge tools were known for their excellent steel, proper heat treatment, and the kind of hand‑forged character that modern production tools simply don’t match. With the forge no longer in operation, clean examples like these have become increasingly scarce.
