Barnsley Automatic Quick‑Adjust Nut Wrench – Patented Dec. 15, 1914 – Boston, Mass. – 8½”
Barnsley Automatic Quick‑Adjust Nut Wrench, patented December 15, 1914 and manufactured in Boston, Massachusetts. This early quick‑action design uses Smiley’s patented rocking‑clutch mechanism, allowing the movable jaw to snap fully open under spring tension for fast, one‑handed adjustment.
This example measures 8½” long and shows the classic Barnsley form with clean metal surfaces and strong action. The small retaining nut on the mechanism appears to be a later replacement, noted for accuracy.
