Description
An awesome very early extraโlarge brass Wimble brace with a full 12″ sweep, a bold and impressive example of the oversized 19thโcentury pattern. These early allโbrass wimbles have a presence unlike anything laterโtall, architectural, and beautifully machined, with that warm, even patina only a century or more can produce.
The 12″ sweep makes this one particularly striking. Most surviving brass wimbles are much smaller; this largeโframe version has real visual impact and would have delivered tremendous torque in use. The proportions, early form, and crisp detailing all point to a highโquality maker working at the turn of the century or earlier.
A superb, rare, and highly displayable early brass braceโclean, honest, and full of character.
