Great Sargent No. 424 Jointer Plane — The Big Boy at 24″ Long (Equivalent to Stanley No. 8)

A great Sargent No. 424 jointer plane, the big boy of the Sargent lineup at 24″ long, fully equivalent in size and capability to the Stanley No. 8. This is a strong, honest example with all the right details and a proper marked Sargent iron.

The original japanning shows flaking, exactly as seen in the photos, but all other components are fine — clean body, solid hardware, and a long, correct cutter. The tote and knob present well, the adjuster works smoothly, and the plane has that classic Sargent heft and feel that makes these 424s such excellent long jointers.
